SUNfarming celebrated its 20th anniversary with a special “Sunny Wild” summer event on the banks of the Spree. Founder Peter Schrum and co-founder Martin Tauschke marked the milestone with employees, partners, and political representatives, including greetings from Brandenburg’s Minister for Economic Affairs. The evening honoured two decades of innovation and SUNfarming’s role in advancing the energy transition.

SUNfarming participated in the Southwest Grid Development Forum in Oelixdorf, engaging with Schleswig-Holstein Netz AG and industry partners on future grid expansion plans. Discussions highlighted ambitious connection targets and infrastructure growth alongside key challenges in approvals, materials, and planning. SUNfarming looks forward to supporting grid development and advancing the energy transition in the region.

Federal President Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Minister President Dietmar Woidke visited Germany’s largest Agri-Solar project in Steinhöfel, developed by SUNfarming. The project combines livestock farming and crop cultivation with solar energy generation, promoting dual land use and renewable energy expansion. The visit highlighted the importance of Agri-PV for food security, energy supply, and societal acceptance.

SUNfarming successfully showcased its Umbrella System at the Fruit Growing Days in Estebrügge, attracting strong interest from fruit growers and policymakers. Developed in cooperation with Esteburg Obstbauzentrum Jork, the system enables efficient dual land use, protects sensitive permanent crops, preserves agricultural status, and improves microclimate conditions—supporting sustainable and resilient fruit production.

Peter Schrum, Chairman of SUNfarming, delivered a guest lecture at SRH Berlin to 90 master’s students, presenting the potential of Agri-PV and SUNfarming’s innovative solutions. The seminar sparked lively discussions on research, international projects, and internship opportunities. SUNfarming plans to expand such university engagements to inspire future experts in agrivoltaics.

A delegation from the Saxony-Anhalt Ministry of Economics visited SUNfarming’s Agri-Solar Research and Innovation Centre in Rathenow, gaining insights into DIN SPEC-compliant Agri-PV systems and patented rainwater management. Discussions focused on regulatory improvements, land-use eligibility, and village power concepts, highlighting Agri-PV’s role in agriculture, energy transition, and regional development.

At the SUNfarming Research and Development Centre in Rathenow, a specially developed wildflower mix was sown beneath Agri-PV systems, enhancing biodiversity and soil quality. With over 40 regional species and improved water management through rainwater distribution, the project demonstrates how solar energy and ecological land use can go hand in hand. The certified mix is now available commercially.
