From 4 to 7 September 2025, SUNfarming once again presented its Agri-Solar solutions at Norla in Rendsburg, featuring a large and representative exhibition stand that attracted strong interest from the agricultural community.
The benefits of dual land use—generating clean energy while maintaining agricultural production on the same land—resonated particularly well with farmers. As Stephan Franke, Head of SUNfarming Project Development North, noted:“With us, farmers remain farmers on their own land.”
Political Dialogue on Agri-PV for Peatlands
A special highlight of Norla 2025 was the visit of Agriculture Minister Werner Schwarz, who was welcomed by SUNfarming founder Peter Schrum. Discussions focused on simplifying approval processes and enabling Agri-Solar projects on peatlands.
Peter Schrum emphasised:“Currently, many peatlands in Schleswig-Holstein that are mown several times a year are not eligible for Agri-Solar. This makes little sense from either a nature conservation or climate protection perspective. Instead of using valuable arable land, peatlands should be made sustainably usable through Agri-PV combined with extensive cattle grazing beneath the modules.”
This position reflects long-standing demands from farmers and highlights a practical pathway to combine nature conservation, agricultural use, and the energy transition.
Conclusion
Norla 2025 once again demonstrated that Agri-Solar is a forward-looking solution for both agriculture and the energy transition—delivering tangible benefits for farmers, policymakers, and society as a whole.
